Life Goes On

When Colorado Springs Fire Department Chief Rich Brown called the Waldo Canyon Fire a "firestorm of epic proportions," he wasn't kidding. 65 mph winds pushed a raging wildfire down into a residential area, ultimately killing two people, destroying 346 homes and forcing more than  30,000 residents to evacuate. It was a perfect storm of tinder dry fuels and a hot fire being pushed by gale-force winds. Firefighters with more than 30 years of wildland firefighting experience say they've never seen anything like it.

The fire is almost 100% contained now. Those who lost their homes and their loved ones are trudging forward to rebuild their lives and their houses. The rest of us are settling back into daily routines and picking up where life ground to a halt three weeks ago today. Life for many people will never be the same, but it does move on.

My little blog is now off hiatus. Stay tuned...
